I stretch my arms up high into the atmosphere What trouble brings you here sweet by and by? I stretch my arms up high into the atmosphere What trouble brings you here sweet by and by? Everybody knows where you’ve been Where you’re going They can see the light from afar They just know it Said a lot of things in confidence You’re growing at a tempestuous place Oo I stretch my arms High like flowers Reaching for warmth and purpose Even now I take to the sea Fierce as zephyr I try to find my shoreline Living ain’t easy I hear lullabies And I'm fading in midnight hideaways How I wish I’d heard it louder Pulled the veil from my eyes I set out on my own dreaming Seeing monotone How beautiful Oo I stretch my arms High like flowers Reaching for warmth and purpose Even now I take to the sea Fierce as zephyr I try to find my shoreline Living ain’t easy I call it out I’m reaching for clarity Cloud me no more And let my ship through Honestly I don’t know where I’m going But I try I stretch my arms up high into the atmosphere What trouble brings you here sweet by and by?

Reverie 04:08
If I were ever really gonna be I'd be the one who started (If I were ever really gonna be) (I'd be the one who started) From some time ago I'd lost myself (From some time ago) (I'd lost myself) In a gradient of yellow green Put back the other puzzle (In a gradient of yellow green) (Put back the other puzzle) Or I'll lose again And I don't mind (Or I'll lose again) (And I don't mind) "I've died a hundred times it seems" Said the man who could have seen right through me Said “I've lived this kind of life for me” But it seems my world would end “I've got this River flowing through me” “I've paid my way. So let it carry me” Yeah The other day I sat and thought about the seasons How will I fair Will serendipity find my hand And tell me that it's worth it Rolling fades in calm reflection A soliloquy becomes one with the falls Wash up and steady myself in routine Cause I've tried a thousand times you know He sat there just listening to me I gotta just live this life for me And for this world I've got to know Why this river flowing through me Paid it's way and still relents to me Yeah (Oo) Pitter patter pitter patter (Whoa) One who motions forward forward (Yeah) Why set a course along Paraná (Whoa) Through the South of my knowledge (Whoa) Woe (Whoa) Don't get carried away (Yeah) In my eyes, this is nothing short of freedom And I can't explain anymore Cause all that is words that say no more Who tells me what defines that freedom River flowing through me I can't pay with all that's left inside me Yeah yeah yeah yeah I'd hide away a million times from it all Annihilating the pressure of the modern world But it's not ingenious letting go of this world No I'm preparing for it all Rivers flowing through me Each day I find a part of me Yeah yeah yeah

Evening wastes away We are shorelines and barriers to sea Evening wastes away Compromises affecting what’s there Oo Evening slips away Wounds by and farewells decaying our thoughts And the young ones come marching henceforth One can hardly understand Who is and who isn’t Light the flow Mind the dream Stay your course Break down Build up Either way return One can hardly understand All Oo Evening always slips away And it’s hard to think when the green means Our hearts; our burdens stain One can hardly understand Who is and who isn’t Light the flow Mind the dream Stay your course Breaking down Building up Either way return One can hardly understand All In the thicket she finds her bourn Oh We are called by the twilight If one can believe all Oo One can only understand I am what I’ve become Light the flow Mind the dream Stay your course Breaking down Building up Either way return One can hardly understand All. Oo

about

Multi-faceted, dynamic and emotional music from an otherwise loudly emphatic and colorful rock band showcasing the more sentimental, lyric and melody-driven side of the group with soaring vocals, big drums and raw guitar, featuring impressionistic piano.

The third project from our band, this EP represents another side of our musicality. As we have a very wide range of musical influences and rich background in the arts and culture, we've decided to allow a momentary departure from what we consider to be our heavier music allowing the chance for simplicity; as far as our definition of "simplicity" can go. And as it stands, our namesake never falters: have an open mind - or - expect nothing. Because we've even surprised ourselves with the production and arrangement choices of this project; it being the first featuring the classical piano background of our lead singer.

Following "Not Enough" and "New - EP", "Water - EP" continues the trend of short releases but tells a big story about our band members, the people around us and the world we live in. Water conceptualizes many types of motion, change, growth, discovery and mystery making it the very logical next step as our group prepares to make bigger strides, really departing from our days in higher education under the blanketed protection of our parental guardians. Each track represents a different landscape on the character's journey from somewhere familiar to somewhere serendipitous - the character being just about anybody or anything the listener relates to as per our ideal of leaving some level of self-interpretation to our music.

Represented in the album artwork by long-time artistic collaborator, Naoya Esa, is a room not particularly identified to be on land, at sea or anywhere in particular, with bay windows on either side of the viewer showing: 1. The vast, endless ocean. 2. The land split by a nourishing river and 3. The flourishing thickets of the mangroves. A mirror shows that what's behind does not seem so different as what is ahead by appearance alone, the water clock shows the passing of time, and the map, though laid out on one surface, is replaced by a friendly "sea monster" trying to escape on another.

The music is very largely impressionistic, and though it can be understood as melancholy, it comes from a place of happiness, ambition and excitement. The bittersweet lessons told by the vocals are enriched with the dense sonorous arrangement of piano, a steady and grounded foundation of drums and percussion and a seemingly pulsating drive of guitars. It has been compared to works predominantly lead by singer-songwriters as members of influential and strong bands. Because much like how New - EP showcased drums, Water - EP showcases vocals.

A self-produced group, "Nihil Admirari” of NYC is a culturally aware brotherhood from the US, Japan and The Bahamas with colorfully influenced artistic backgrounds citing everything from graphic novels to clavichord suites since 2016. They boast rock-based multi-genre and emotional music, while sharing a common vision for success, here to tell you about our similarities, to question unspoken truth and to show the industry that having an open mind can result in unexpected discoveries especially when there’s food and anything sugary around." - Nihil Admirari website, July '18

about

Nihil Admirari New York, New York

We've been together for 4+ years now, living and working in NYC through school, in the work force, on the grind and through the pandemic. But we're a trio, and we want to be a quartet. Only then will be fully become what this band was meant to be.

We are Nihil Admirari, a Post Punk rock bank with our own rules and our own way of doing things.
